The Challenge:
The new Sixt branch aimed to establish a location at Sheffield train station, a key transport hub that serves approximately 9.45 million passengers each year. The goal was to create a modern and convenient site offering customers premium vehicles, including electric options, along with a 24-hour key return and car drop off service for easy and flexible vehicle returns.
Delivering this project within such a high-traffic environment required careful coordination. With construction taking place in a busy, live setting, maintaining strict health and safety standards was essential to ensure minimal disruption to station operations and passenger movement.
The Solution:
SITU Construction worked closely with the client and architects to bring their vision of a modern, high-quality aesthetic in line with Sixt’s distinctive branding. The team constructed new form partitions clad with MFC board to create a sleek and durable interior finish. A new back office was formed to support daily operations, and a custom-designed sales counter was installed at the front desk complete with integrated electrical points to enhance functionality.
Externally, SITU Construction delivered a new key drop safe in the car park to support Sixt’s 24-hour return service and installed additional electrical sockets to facilitate efficient vehicle valeting. Every element of the build was carefully executed to align with Sixt’s premium customer experience and operational needs.
The Results:
The project was successfully completed within the agreed timescale and budget, meeting all client expectations. The new branch delivers long term structural resilience and enhances the service offering for both Sixt staff and customers through improved functionality and design. As the first project undertaken with this client, SITU Construction was proud to receive highly positive feedback, marking the start of a strong ongoing relationship with Sixt.
