Project Highlights:

  1. Delivered on time – Completed exactly to the agreed 14-week programme, with handover on schedule.
  2. First MFG Wrights Bakery – Successfully launched the very first Wrights Bakery within an MFG forecourt, setting a new benchmark for future sites.
  3. Maintained live operations – Kept the existing forecourt fully operational throughout the project, ensuring uninterrupted service and revenue for the client.

The Challenge:

In 2025, MFG Penhill underwent a full fuel branding upgrade to meet the latest BP service station standards, positioning it as a modern, high-quality destination for road users and the local community. Motor Fuel Group (MFG), the UK’s largest independent forecourt operator under the BP brand, sought to enhance the site’s appeal and functionality while maintaining seamless operations for customers throughout the project.

The upgraded site now features a striking new canopy, BP Helios, three jet washes, four 300kW EV power chargers, and a Wrights Bakery offering hot and cold refreshments. The facility also caters to the wider community, providing convenient services such as InPost, PayPoint, and a Londis convenience store alongside light refreshment outlets.

A comprehensive interior fit-out was delivered, involving the removal of existing fixtures and the installation of new ones aligned with BP branding. This process included close collaboration with the client on design and planning to optimise workflow, storage, and operational efficiency. Situ Group acted as Principal Contractor for the project, with sister companies Situ Construction and Situ M&E responsible for fuel and forecourt infrastructure up to the site boundary, and Situ Energy delivering the EV charging installation.

Minimising disruption was a key priority, with careful planning ensuring that the station remained fully operational during works. Trenches for cable installation were covered with plates to allow vehicles to continue entering the forecourt, protecting the client’s revenue stream. Health and safety were paramount throughout, with strict protocols followed to maintain a safe environment at this live petrol station.

The Solution:

We delivered a comprehensive, end-to-end solution that transformed MFG Penhill into a modern, fully branded BP forecourt. Our team installed a new Wrights Bakery and extended the shop fit-out, integrating the latest retail and convenience features seamlessly into the existing site. Alongside this, we upgraded the forecourt with three jet washes and installed four 300kW EV chargers, enhancing the site’s offering for both road users and the local community.

As Principal Contractor, we managed all aspects of the project under one cohesive solution, coordinating multiple teams and disciplines to ensure smooth, efficient delivery. By carefully planning and executing works to a 14-week programme, we were able to hand the project over on the exact date agreed with the client, demonstrating our commitment to reliability, operational continuity, and minimal disruption to business.

The Results:

The completed project has transformed MFG Penhill into a flagship BP forecourt, delivering a first-class experience for both motorists and the local community. The installation now boasts six high-powered EV bays, three jet washes, and a fully integrated Air & Vac facility, providing drivers with a complete range of services on site.

The extension also features a new Wrights Bakery, offering an inviting space for customers to enjoy fresh food-to-go, hot and cold refreshments, and quality beverages, complementing the upgraded Londis convenience store.

By combining cutting-edge infrastructure with enhanced retail and hospitality options, the site not only meets the evolving needs of today’s road users but also reinforces MFG’s position as the UK’s leading independent BP forecourt operator.
