Veatu Flooring Delivers Bold, High-Performance Finish at Colchester Youth Centre

Veatu Flooring has completed the flooring installation at the newly redeveloped Colchester Townhouse Youth Centre, delivering vibrant, high-quality finishes that reflect the energy and inclusivity at the heart of this £1.3 million community project.

Developed in partnership with Essex County Council, Essex Youth Service and principal contractor Re-Gen (UK) Construction Ltd., the centre was designed to provide a safe, creative and inspiring space for young people across Colchester and the wider Essex region. Located in the heart of the city, the project involved a full refurbishment of the existing building, transforming it into a dynamic hub that supports growth, community engagement and youth development.

The flooring package was both technically challenging and creatively ambitious. Works included the removal of existing floor coverings, with expert handling and responsible waste disposal. Access to the site, situated along narrow Roman-built roads in Colchester’s historic centre, required careful logistical planning and close coordination with Re-Gen (UK) Construction Ltd and other trades to ensure the project remained on schedule.

Veatu’s team prepared and levelled the subfloors before installing a range of high-performance finishes tailored to each area of the building. The result is a bright, modern and welcoming environment, designed to foster creativity, inclusion and connection. The bold use of colour, combined with durable materials and precise installation, played a key role in realising the architect’s vision for a space that feels both safe and inspiring.

The completed youth centre reflects the energy of the young people it was created for and provides a lasting asset for the wider community. The project stands as a strong example of how skilled craftsmanship, effective collaboration and design-led thinking can come together to deliver meaningful, lasting impact.
